A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. It all starts with this one decision that Mark take to aim for the honest degree that he wants to have in the area of Film and media studies. But he is only in secondary 4. This is the year of his ‘o’ levels examination. It is the only chance for him to be able to reach his goal. Being a hyper active boy, Mark has not been concentrating on his studies, rather he is into having fun and playing all day long. Despite of the encouragement and effort put in by his parents and friends, Mark is still ‘wandering in the wilderness’.
During one of the talks hold by the school about the importance of education, together with a talk on tertiary education by students from Ngee Ann Polytechinc, Mark finally ‘walks out from the widerness’. The reason behind it was because of one of the course in Ngee Ann Poly. Its is the school of Film and media studies. He is so attracted to it and is
willing to do anything to get in. So the hard work starts and he is a lazy boy then, and a hardworking teenager now.
His hardwork finally pays off and he scores very well for his ‘o’ levels. He is so happy that he goes around hugging all the teachers and his friends.
Because of the decision to take the first step, Mark has cross over many obstructions and difficulties and is now on his way to getting in to an university in Film and media studies, just as his goal is. He believes that it is not the end of the road, as learning is a lifetime event, it will never stop as long as you preservere.
